Cartoon Project!
In December, each student is required to complete a cartoon project that demonstrates mastery of at least five different vocabulary words. Students may choose vocabulary words from the frist two units or may have additional math terms approved by Mr. Coleman. Students are given the option of drawing their comic trip by hand or using an internet program on Pixton.com!
Student projects are graded using a 4-point scale rubric (see below). Student have the opportunity to submit their work before the deadline and get feedback before turning in the final projects. The project counts as a quiz grade.

Checks in the Mail!
The Checks in the Mail project is a significant task that each 6th grade student in New Haven completes during the second marking period.
Purpose: Students will demonstrate their ability to fluently calculate decimal numbers by managing money.
Method: Students will choose a career, find a place to live and develop a monthly budget that is realistic for the salary they earn. In addition, students will keep a checkbook and practice writing checks.
